About

About me

My name’s Alex Durrant, though most people just call me Durrante. I’m based in the UK and I’ve spent 15+ years in IT, currently working as a Senior End User Computing Consultant for a UK-based Microsoft partner.

These days I specialise in the modern endpoint and cloud workspace world: Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot and Windows 365, along with the wider M365 and Azure stack that surrounds them. I’m also a big fan of automating the boring bits with PowerShell and Bicep, which is easily one of my favourite parts of the job.

I hold the following certifications:

  • Current
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
    • Nerdio Manager for Enterprise Foundations (NME-201)
  • Earlier certifications
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Mobility
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Windows 10
    • MCSA: Windows Server 2016
    • MCSA: Windows Server 2012
    • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Administering and Deploying System Center 2012 Configuration Manager
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Windows 8

Oh, and I’m an Arsenal fan, so if that doesn’t prove I can stay calm through uncertain situations, nothing will.

About the blog

This blog is my way of giving something back to a community I lean on constantly, and, if I’m honest, somewhere to park solutions so I don’t have to work them out twice.

I write mostly from the endpoint and cloud workspace space: Intune, Configuration Manager, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Azure and the wider Microsoft 365 stack. Expect real world fixes, deployment walkthroughs, PowerShell scripts and the occasional tool I’ve built to scratch my own itch, like the AVD Monitoring Baseline and Intune Profile Renamer you’ll find under Tools.

Comments are open, so do share feedback, post ideas or a better way of solving something. I’m always up for a sharper approach. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to reach out on socials or via the contact form, even if it’s just to say hello.

All the best.
